alcove
a small room with a bed.  It is contiguous to the main room (not only a bedroom, but also a living room); it is separated from this room by a partition closed by a curtain. 

apartment
independent set of rooms inside a building. 

attic
room at the top of a building, under the roof.

balcony
a platform that projects from the outisde wall of a building. It is enclosed by a parapet.  

bed linen and towel rental
we can offer you bed linen and towels for rental. Ask for further information when booking. 

bed linen and towels
in some properties the bed linen and towels are included in the price. In other properties we can rent the linen, ask when booking. 

bedroom in a loft
bedroom on an intermediate floor created by dividing the space floor-to-ceiling, the bed is on this level. The loft can be in the living room. 

bedroom with loft
bedroom with an intermediate floor created by dividing the space floor-to-ceiling; the bed is on the lower level. 

boathouse
a sort of garage for small boats. 

bunk bed
a piece of furniture consisting of two single beds fixed together by a frame with one above the other (a bunk bed sleeps two persons).

camp bed
bed with a metal frame, which can be folded so that it uses little space when being stored or carried. 

cot
a small bed for a baby or young child with high bars round the sides so that the child cannot fall out .

cove
inlet with beach or pebbles, usually not deep. 

covered terrace
partly or completely roofed terrace.

detached (house)
one-family house not connected to any other building, surrounded by a garden. 

detached small villa
small villa not connected to other buildings, surrounded by a garden. 

detached villa
(single-family villa which sleeps at least 6 persons) single-family house not connected to any other building, surrounded by a garden, with high quality features. Sleeps at least 6 persons. 

direct access to the cove
route which leads directly to the sea, with no need to return onto the main road. The access is not exclusive but can be shared with other persons. 

distances
- the house is very near the coast: the house is between 0 and 150 m from the sea.
- the house is near the coast: the house is between 150 and 400 m from the sea.
- the house is not far from the coast the house is between 400 m and 1,2 km from the sea.
- the house is in the immediate vicinity of the coast: the house is more than 1,2 km from the sea. 

double bed
bed which sleeps two persons (it can also be a large single bed, but it is always specified). 

double room
bedroom with a double bed (it can also be a large single bed, it is always specified).

end-of-terrace, in a terraced complex
houses set at the beginning or end of a row of houses, in a terraced complex (see). 

extra bed
it means that an extra bed can be added to the number of beds included in the details of the house. This possibility is not automatic, it always depends on the owner. Ask when booking.in più rispetto ai posti letto indicati nella scheda.

flight (of stairs)
a set of steps or stairs, usually between two floors of a building.  

four-bedded room
bedroom with 4 single beds (2 or 4 of the 4 single beds can be replaced by 1 or 2 bunk beds it is always specified).

garden
a piece of land next to a house where flowers and other plants are grown, variable in size. 

garden with trees
garden with trees. Usually pine trees or Mediterranean trees. 

gulf
a wide inlet.

half bathroom
a smaller bathroom comparing to a full one. It usually does not contain all appliances (the shower or bidet may be missing). 

hanging garden
a garden obtained on a terrace.

immediate vicinity
the house is between 1,2  and 15 km from the sea.

kitchen with a dining area
kitchen with dinette (an area used for dining, with a table seating 4 persons).

kitchen with no dining area
kitchen with no dinette  (an area used for dining, with a table seating 4 persons). 

kitchenette
small kitchen area built into the end of a living room.

large single bed
bed which is larger than a single bed and smaller than a double one. It is also called French bed. 

level 1, 2, ...
we call "level 1"  the lower level in the house, which is not necessarily  where the entrance is. 

levels
in a house on several levels the rooms are at different heights. 

linen
see bed linen and towels. 

living room
room in a house or an apartment in which people sit or relax during the day. 

living room with kitchenette
living room with a small kitchen area (hob and sink).

loft (see also bedroom with loft or in loft)
intermediate floor created by dividing the space floor-to-ceiling.

all windows or some of these have screens. 

multi-family small villa
small villa consisting of several units. The latter can share parts of the garden or other common areas.

a house not far from the coast is between 400 and 1,2 km from the sea. 

near the coast
a house is near the coast when it is between 150 and 400 m from the sea.

open shower
shower with no base. Water flows down a drain in the floor, which is slightly sloping in order for the water to drain easily.

parking
the house offers parking place when you can park your car in a private lot.

passageway
an area connecting different parts of a building with rooms on one or both sides.

pool
it can be private (to be used only by the tenants of the house) or shared (use in common with other houses). 

porch    
a roofed structure, open on one or more sides, with pillars or columns.

private access to the sea
route which leads directly to the sea, with no need to return onto the main road. The access is exclusively for the use of the house. 

private road
road which can only bew used by a limited number of persons.

residential complex
fairly wide group of houses and facilities destined for tourists (nearly a small town).

resort complex
a group of houses and facilities destined for tourists. A resort complex stretches over an area which is generally smaller than a residential complex; houses have standard features and are under one ownership.

seafront
part of a coastal town next to the beach with a wide road or path. Different from a coastal road (a road next to the sea, but outside the town).

semi-detached small villa
one of a pair of small villas which are joined into one by a common wall. The two units may share part of the garden or other common areas.

separate entrances
in multi-family buildings, it indicates the presence of independent entrances to the different units. 

shared entrance
entrance to the house is shared with one or more houses. It is usually a small path which leads to the different houses. 

shared garden
garden shared with other houses. 

shower
small space where a shower device is situated. It is generally enclosed by a masonry or other material rigid frame, or by a plastic curtain. 

single bed
bed which sleeps one person. 

single room
bedroom with one single bed. 

sleeps
it indicates the maximum number of persons who can sleep in the house. 

small villa
house with a garden and good quality features. Sleeps at least 4 persons.

small kitchen
small room used as a kitchen where there is only space for cooking. 

small window
usually present in basements. It can be: normal casement windows, sliding, awning, double or single-hung. 

sofa bed
a sofa which has a part that opens to form a bed. It can be single, large single or double. 

storeroom
small room for keeping items in while they are not being used.

telephone
in most of the properties there is no telephone. It is always specified in the details when available.

tennis court
it can be private (to be used exclusively by the tenants of the house) or shared (use in common with other houses). If shared, usage is liable to rules and may have to be paid. 

terrace
a roofless flat area inside or on the ground floor of a a building. 

terrace overlooking the sea
terrace in a house very close to the sea, with a view of the sea, built in front of the coastline. 

terraced
see terraced complex. 

terraced complex
a row of adjoining or very close houses.
The houses at the beginning and end of the row are called end-of-terrace (see). 

three-bedded room
bedroom with 3 single beds (2 of the 3 single beds can be replaced by a bunk bed, it is always specified). 

towels
see linen.

truckle bed
a low bed on wheels which is stored under an ordinary bed ready for use by visitors

tub (bathtub)
a plastic, metal or ceramic container which can be filled with water so that a person can sit or lie in it to wash their whole body. 

twin-bedded room
bedroom with two single beds (the 2 beds can be replaced by a bunk bed, it is always specified).

villa
detached house, not connected to any other building, surronded by a garden, with high quality features. Sleeps at least 6 persons. 

very near the coast
a house is very near the coast when it is between 0 and 150 m from the sea.

vicinity of the coast
strip of land which is in the immediate vicinity of the coast.
